Most of the people consider that it is difficult to unlock iPhone, but in fact, this process is easy enough. However, at the same time you must be very careful, as a slight mistake can affect your iPhone. Actually, 3G 2.1 iPhone unlock can be performed by smart people, but you need to know exactly what to do. If you need a tutorial and you do not understand something, it would be better to stop unlocking the iPhone, or you can ask somebody who can guide you.
Here you can find the steps to be covered in order to unlock a classic iPhone that has already passed through winpwn. In this case, you have to know how upgrading using winpwn is possible. First, you have to download quickpwn from a link that is indicated, and then you must download the 2.1 firmware for iPhone classic. You can continue by downloading the boot loaders 3.9 and 4.6. Then you can upgrade iTunes8, bonjour, quick time and other iPhone facilities. When you are required a restart, you can do it without any hesitation.
The next step is related to cydia. If you do not have it, you can install “apt backup” and you can use it (pressing only the backup button). This operation is not always useful, but in general, it works, therefore it is worth trying. After that, you can connect your phone to the PC and do SYNC in iTunes. It will take even half an hour, but it is nothing wrong, you must let them work. Access through SSH without Wi-Fi and go to a folder that is indicated, then backup the folder. After that open iTunes (if it is not already open) and let the phone connected to the PC until it can be seen. Next press shift, restore, and look for the firmware downloaded at step 1. You must wait for 15 minutes. If it takes longer time, it does not matter. Let it work! Do not restore the backup in iTunes yet!
In order to unlock iPhone, you can open quickpwm and follow the steps for 3G 2.1 iPhone unlock. You must wait to see a green coloured V. When you are required to browse, you must look for 3G 2.1 iPhone unlock firmware downloaded at step 1. When you get to a four cases screen, you must tick them all.
Next, to unlock iPhone, you must follow the instructions on the screen to put the phone in DFU mode. You will see messages and pictures on the screen of the phone. You must let it work. Again, it can take up to 15 minutes or more. Finally, you will know that everything is all right when icons appear on the phone and you can connect it to the mobile phone network.
The following step in 3G 2.1 iPhone unlock is very important. You must open cydia. If there is no icon on the screen, it means that you have not ticked it so you must start again with the third step, the second part. After that, download apt backup, Boss Prefs, Boss Tool, 5 icon dock (if you have had it before), apt backup. In the unlock iPhone program do not forget to update anything new required by cydia.
Next, open iTunes and set the iPhone as if it is new. Then choose picture, music, contacts, video, applications and everything you want in it and start SYNC. It can take 10 minutes. Finally, open apt backup and hit restore, as it should bring your old applications from cydia on the phone. If it does not bring them, you have to download them again from cydia. Access SSH without Wi-Fi in iPhone and follow the steps indicated in the link. All the previous steps are based on knowledge and personal experience.

The only ‘place’ would be eBay & or craigslist, which I personally wouldn’t recommend unless you are willing to spend more than the direct from Apple option available in Canada, the UK & France. The difference is that they supposedly have the phone available & you could get it in days vs weeks trying to get it from Apple.
In the US, the iPhone is locked to AT&T.
I was going to leave sprint for AT&T only for the iphone. I have no issues with service, just want a cool phone. I can get the Instinct for $129, the iphone for $199. Both have rate plans that start at $70, so why would I leave Sprint now?
Besides the 2GB mem on Instinct vs. 8GB on iPhone, what can the iPhone do the instinct can’t? Zoom in?
So far, I adore this phone. The look, feel, ease of use is wonderful. I am also amazed at the value of this phone; after rebates, the final price with tax is $148.73. The Everything Plans start at 69.99, which is what I have. Since most of the people I know are on Sprint, the "Sprint to Sprint" covers most of my minutes so I did not need unlimited talk. On all Everything Plans, text, web, navagation, ect are unlimited.
The visual voicemail and threaded text messages are great. I also use Sprint TV when I am at the gym and I love how it works on this phone, much nicer than on my previous one. I do however wish the calendar had a countdown clock, as my old Samsung m610 did, but that a small thing and everything else overshadows this. Amazingly, when I did the "Web Sync" to get the music I have purchased from the Sprint store (I usually load my own, but I occasionally buy when I’m on the go) for my last phone, it not only re-loaded the those songs, but included ALL songs ever bought with my phone number from even 2 phones ago…
Great phone and since iPhone doesn’t have a camcorder, even on the newer one to be released next month, the Instinct is by far the better choice for me. I use the camcorder a lot. It took a little while to figure out how to do long form video (I NEVER read the book, who does?) but the quality is great.
The memory IS expandalbe to 8 GB and comes with two battteries. Even on the new iPhone the battery is not replacable and this remains an issue for many users.
I have seen reviews where people complain of not be able to do certain things (ex: someone unable to change background thought it wasn’t option, when it fact you can), I find that so far I can do everything that my last phone did, and then some. It’s just a matter of taking the time to find a way, or going through the manual. When I find out something new, it’s great. I’m sure there’s more that I don’t know still.
